Terms of Service

Last updated: November 4, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Constat, a service operated by Steward Software LLC("we," "our," or "us") that moves giving data from Planning Center Giving into QuickBooks Online. By accessing or using Constat, you agree to these Terms.

Constat is a bookkeeping tool.It helps your church or firm (the "Customer") record its own giving in its own accounting system. The Customer controls the information it connects and is responsible for its own books, tax filings, donor receipts and legal compliance; we process that information on the Customer's instructions to provide the service. Constat does not give accounting, tax or legal advice, does not hold or move money, and is not a payment processor or a bank.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using Constat, you confirm that you:

  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Have the authority to bind your church or firm to these Terms
  • Agree to comply with these Terms and our Privacy Policy

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use Constat.

2. Description of Service

Constat is a cloud service for churches and the bookkeeping firms that serve them. It includes:

  • Connecting Planning Center (read-only access to Giving) and QuickBooks Online through their own sign-in and consent screens
  • A nightly sync of funds, campuses, gifts, refunds and batches from Planning Center Giving
  • Grouping gifts into payouts and batches and checking each against the payout reports you forward or upload
  • A review queue where people with approver access approve payouts before they post
  • Posting approved payouts to QuickBooks Online as deposits (and, if you turn it on, detail-mode receipts)
  • Virus scanning of the payout files you send us
  • Firm accounts with role-based access for bookkeeping firms, with every client church in one workspace
  • Email sync reports and invitations, CSV export, and deletion of a church's data by its owner

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.

3. Account Registration

Church and Firm Accounts

When you create a church or firm account on Constat:

  • You represent that you have authority to act on behalf of that church or firm
  • You are responsible for all activity under the account
  • You must provide accurate and complete registration information
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of account credentials

A firm that adds a client church represents that the church has authorized the firm to use Constat for its books. Each church connects its own Planning Center and QuickBooks accounts.

User Accounts

Individual users within a church or firm:

  • Must be invited by someone with authority to invite them
  • Are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their sign-in links and passwords
  • Must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • May not share accounts or credentials with others

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Constat only for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • Use the service for any illegal activity
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or to other customers' data
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service
  • Impersonate another person or organization
  • Connect a Planning Center or QuickBooks account you are not authorized to connect
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Resell or redistribute the service without authorization

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Export control and sanctions. You represent that you are not located in, and will not use the service from, any country or territory subject to U.S. embargo or comprehensive sanctions, and that you are not identified on any U.S. government denied-party, sanctions, or restricted-party list.

5. Your Data

Ownership

You retain ownership of all data you connect or upload to Constat, including giving records, payout files and mappings. We do not claim ownership of your data.

License to Us

You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data solely to provide the service. This license:

  • Is non-exclusive and royalty-free
  • Allows us to back up and replicate data for reliability
  • Ends when you delete your data or your account

Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Having the right to share your church's giving and donor information with us
  • Reviewing payouts before you approve them, and the accuracy of your fund and account mappings
  • Your books in QuickBooks, including reconciling them to your bank
  • Keeping your own copy of your data if you want one (CSV export is provided for this purpose)

Feedback and Suggestions

If you provide feedback, ideas, or suggestions about the service, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use them for any purpose without restriction or any obligation to you.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep giving records and payout files until you delete them. A church owner can delete the church and its data in Settings. Deletion revokes our access to Planning Center and QuickBooks and does not delete anything in either of them. See our Privacy Policy and Security page for details.

6. Planning Center and QuickBooks

You authorize us to read Giving data from your Planning Center account and to read from and write to your QuickBooks Online company as described in these Terms and on our Security page. We write to QuickBooks only what you, or someone with approver access in your account, approve, or what an auto-post rule an approver turned on allows. You can disconnect either service at any time.

Your use of Planning Center and QuickBooks is governed by their own terms. Planning Center and Intuit are not parties to these Terms and are not responsible for Constat. We are not responsible for their services, their availability, or changes to their APIs.

7. Accounting Disclaimer

Constat is designed to post deposits that match your bank deposits and to refuse a payout it cannot tie out. HOWEVER, WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT YOUR BOOKS, ANY POSTING, OR ANY REPORT WILL BE COMPLETE, ACCURATE, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY TAX, AUDIT, OR REGULATORY PURPOSE. Results depend on the data Planning Center and your payout reports provide, your mappings, your approvals, and changes made in QuickBooks outside Constat.

Constat DOES NOT PROVIDE ACCOUNTING, TAX, OR LEGAL ADVICE AND IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR A QUALIFIED ACCOUNTANT OR ATTORNEY. Donor contribution statements, tax receipts, and filings remain your responsibility.

8. Subscription and Payment

Pricing and Billing

Our prices are listed on our website. Every account starts with a free trial, and no payment method is needed to start it. We charge nothing until you add a payment method and your trial ends. Payments are processed by Stripe: you enter your payment details on a page Stripe hosts, and Constat never receives or stores your card number.

Beta Services

From time to time, the service or particular features may be offered on a beta, trial, or early-access basis and may be provided free of charge. Beta services are provided "as is," may be changed, suspended, or discontinued at any time, may contain errors, and carry no availability or support commitment. The disclaimers and limitations of liability in these Terms apply fully to beta services.

9. Service Availability

We strive to keep the service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. It may be temporarily unavailable due to:

  • Scheduled maintenance (we will provide advance notice when possible)
  • Unscheduled maintenance for urgent issues
  • Outages at Planning Center, Intuit, or our infrastructure providers
  • Circumstances beyond our control

We are not liable for any damages resulting from service interruptions.

Force Majeure

We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, labor disputes, governmental action, internet or telecommunications failures, or the failure or unavailability of third-party infrastructure or service providers.

10. Intellectual Property

Constat, including its design, features, code, and documentation, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute our software
  • Reverse engineer or decompile the service
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices
  • Use our trademarks without permission

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for its intended purpose while you use it.

Planning Center, QuickBooks, and Intuit are trademarks of their owners. Constat is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

11. Third-Party Services

Constat relies on third-party services (hosting, email delivery, and the others listed on our Security page). We are not responsible for third-party services.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

  • MERCHANTABILITY
  • FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
  • NON-INFRINGEMENT
  • ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF DATA

We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, LOST OR CORRUPTED DATA, ACCOUNTING ERRORS, OR COSTS OF CORRECTING RECORDS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES

These limitations apply regardless of the legal theory and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

14. Indemnification

  • Your use of the service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Data you connect or upload to the service

15. Termination

  • Your access will be revoked

  • Your data is deleted as described in our Privacy Policy, so keep a copy of anything you want first

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in conduct harmful to us or other customers

We will provide notice when reasonably possible. For serious violations, we may terminate immediately.

Effect of Termination

Upon termination, provisions that by their nature should survive will remain in effect, including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification.

16. Data Processing, Privacy, and Breach Notification

Our processing of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. We process Customer personal information only on the Customer's instructions to provide the service. Customers subject to data-protection laws may request a data processing addendum at [email protected]. If we confirm a security breach affecting a Customer's personal information, we will notify the affected Customer without undue delay and provide the information reasonably available to us; the Customer is responsible for any notifications to affected individuals and regulators, and we will reasonably assist.

18. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • Posting notice on our website
  • Sending email to account owners
  • Updating the "Last updated" date

Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with changes, you must stop using the service.

19. General Provisions

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any data processing addendum we sign with you, constitute the entire agreement between you and us
  • Order of Precedence: A signed data processing addendum controls for matters of personal-data processing; otherwise these Terms control over the Privacy Policy
